Scaler

Dec 22, 2004

So I bought this interesting platform game for the Playstation2 made by a company in Montreal. It was only 30 bucks and I didn't really have anything better to do :) The game is called Scaler, and it's about this kid who gets sucked into an alternate universe (I hate it when that happens!) and gets transformed into a flame-haired, blue-skinned lizard in the process.

Anyway, the game turned out to be pretty fun! It never got too hard, but at the same time it was never too easy either. There were a few times when I beat some boss or arena battle with one health point left on the third or fourth try. Man that feels good.

The game was also pretty short. Just ten levels, to collect 20 eggs and 100 gems. Took me maybe five evenings. Despite that, it managed to get pretty involved with an OK storyline (for a platform game) and with dialogue that stayed away from the truly corny :)

I recommend it if you're looking for a few afternoons or evenings of fun, and don't want a game where you need to spend a month in order to find everything. And for 30 bucks, how can you go wrong?

Below are some screenshots I blatantly stole from some gaming sites :P Click for bigger versions.

All those gaming sites have the same ones, it seems. I can only assume they like sharing!

They have some more cool screenshots there plus a video. Not really much else, though.
